Gospel Growth
New City Catechism This is a modern catechism (a summary of belief in question and answer form) and is a great resource for growing in the gospel (for both children and adults).
The Cross Chart As you grow in your faith in Jesus you will inceasingly see two things simultaneously - God is holy and you are sinful (building a life apart from God with yourself at the center of your life). Without the cross covering the gap between those two realities you will be motivated by pride on the one hand (religion) or despair and depression on the other.
In Luke 7:47 Jesus said, "Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” Only when you see that you have been forgiven much will you have a greater love for God and others. When you believe you have been forgiven little, you have a small love for God and others. Far too many followers of Jesus don’t realize how much they have been forgiven, and so their love towards others and God is little. Without the gospel we are led to either pride or despair. With the gospel we are moved towards love and freedom.
